¥330,000
Born in Kewanee, Illinois, he moved to Chicago to study realist painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduation, he moved to New York City, where he worked as a graphic artist for publishers and advertising agencies, and in the 1960s established a style of painting that faithfully reproduced photographs he had taken. He is regarded as the founder of the photorealism (super-realism) movement, along with other painters who were aiming in the same direction. His paintings are clean and free of dust, and often depict buildings with sunlight streaming in and reflections of other buildings in the glass windows. His works are in the collections of many museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. <title> from Urban Landscapes Ⅱ Meat Dept <printmaking year> 1979 <techniques> シルクスクリーン silk screen <sign> サインあり with sign <edition> 61/100 <size> sheet size/69.8×49.8㎝ image size/50.4×33.9㎝ <condition> excellent(良好) この商品はシートのみです。 This product is only for a sheet.
Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1948, he entered the oil painting department of Tama Art University in 1969 and received instruction in copperplate printing from Tetsuro Komai. In 1970, his silkscreen prints won the Newcomer's Prize at the Exhibition of the Japan Print Association, and in 1971 he began working on woodblock prints. In 1976, he won the Grand Prize of the Japan Print Association Exhibition, and since then he has received many awards both in Japan and abroad. In 1985, he studied at the Graduate School of Columbia University as an overseas trainee artist from the Agency for Cultural Affairs. After returning to Japan, his style changed dramatically with a renewed awareness of the Japanese people. He produced the "The Flying" series, in which a chicken flies across the screen, and began to use Hokusai's "Nami" and "Fuji" in the background of the flying chicken. The strong engraved lines of the intaglio printing process accentuate the images of "Nami" and "Fuji," which symbolize Japan itself, making him one of the most highly acclaimed woodblock print artists of our time. <title> 翔べ(Ⅳ-結) Fly (IV-Conclusion) <printmaking year> 1991 <techniques> 木版画 woodblock print <sign> サインあり with sign <edition> 30/35 <size> sheet size/97×69㎝ image size/91.5×61㎝ <condition> excellent(良好) この商品はシートのみです。 This product is only for a sheet. <title> 翔べ(Ⅳ-承) Fly (IV - Seiyo) <printmaking year> 1991 <techniques> 木版画 woodblock print <sign> サインあり with sign <edition> 30/35 <size> sheet size/97×69㎝ image size/91.5×61㎝ <condition> excellent(良好) この商品はシートのみです。 This product is only for a sheet.
Born in 1927 in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. Entered the Japanese Painting Department of Tokyo Fine Arts School in 1944, and after the war became a member of the "Souzou Bijutsu (later known as Soga-kai)" and attracted attention as a young artist leading innovation. After the war, he became a member of the "Souzou Bijutsu (Creative Art) Society" and attracted attention as a young artist who would lead the way in innovation. In the 1970s, he began to work in ink and wash, and became famous for the ceiling paintings of Kuon-ji Temple at Minobu-zan and the ceiling paintings of Tenryu-ji Temple in his later years. He was known for his innovativeness, which was not bound by the framework of Japanese-style painting, and he breathed new life into modern Japanese-style painting by incorporating surrealism and cubism and using an airbrush. His style changed from decade to decade: in the 1950s, he produced many animal paintings; in the 1960s, he created decorative works reminiscent of the Rimpa school; and from the 1970s onward, he returned to the traditional ink and wash style, producing ceiling paintings and folding screens. Since the 1970s, he has returned to the traditional ink and wash style to produce ceiling paintings and folding screens. He also broke new ground in copperplate engraving and other media. His work has been highly acclaimed overseas, and he exhibited at the Guggenheim International Art Exhibition in 1958. After his death in 2004, retrospective exhibitions of his work have been held in various locations in Japan. <title> 横になる裸婦’84 Lying nude woman’84 <printmaking year> 1984 <techniques> 銅版画 etching <sign> サインあり with sign <edition> 22/125 <size> sheet size/57.0×75.5㎝ image size/29.3×39.0㎝ <condition> excellent(良好) この商品はシートのみです。 This product is only for a sheet.
